Qatar to host first-ever Fifa Women’s World Cup qualifier in 2019

Qatar is set to host its first-of-its-kind Women’s Football League (WSL) match in 2019, after winning a bidding war with the United Arab Emirates.

Qatar Football Federation (QFF) chairman Mohamed bin Mohammed Al Thani told reporters on Thursday that the bid would be presented to the FIFA Executive Committee (FEC), which would decide if the bid should be accepted or not.

Al Thani, who was also present at the FIFA Congress, said that the 2018 FIFA Women’s Gold Cup, which was hosted in Qatar, was one of the best women’s football events in the world.

AlThani added that Qatar would host a Women’s Premier League (WPL) match between the Qatari national team and the UAE national team in 2019.

The 2022 FIFA Women World Cup was played in Qatar in the Gulf Arab country.
