‘What if the U.S. went on a nuclear rampage?’
A nuclear-armed America would be the ultimate threat to the world.
But that’s just a fear.
The question is, would it be possible?
And the answer is, yes.
In this week’s National Geographic podcast, author and physicist Bruce Bennett discusses what would happen if America unleashed a nuclear-tipped missile to obliterate the U, the world, and humanity.
Bennett is the author of a book, The Doomsday Machine: Why the World Needs a Nuclear-Free World.
“The first thing that comes to mind is what would be really crazy,” Bennett says.
“If you got a nuclear attack, what would you do?”
Bennett, a retired engineer who lives in Boulder, Colo., says the first thing he would do is make a bomb.
He says that’s how you make a nuclear weapon, and he’d build it right here in the U; the only problem is that there are only five states in the world that are nuclear-weapon-free.
But there are countries in the middle of the world where there are other, potentially more dangerous countries, and we could bomb them.
“I would start building bombs and bombs would be launched into the sky,” Bennett explains.
“There are some pretty big implications for how we would react to a nuclear war, including what would we do if we were to be attacked. “
“We would see the devastation, the devastation would be tremendous, and it would be devastating. “
“But would we go out and actually bomb some countries, like the United States? “
Probably not, because the odds of us getting bombed are just too great. “
But would we go out and actually bomb some countries, like the United States?
What if a nuclear bomb went off in the United Kingdom? “
On the other hand, we could have a nuclear holocaust in some other place.”
What if a nuclear bomb went off in the United Kingdom?
Bennett predicts a global disaster would start on Sept. 11, 2001, the day of the terrorist attacks.
“In the United State, we would see an explosion, and a nuclear chain reaction would start,” he says.
A nuclear chain response would start a nuclear fire that would cause massive, catastrophic damage to cities, towns and even the country.
The United States would likely be devastated.
The U.K. would be in a nuclear meltdown.
“People in the UK would probably say, ‘We have to go home,’ ” Bennett says, “because the chances of them surviving the explosion would be zero.”
“So what would the United Nations do?”
“Well, we’re the only nation that has nuclear weapons.
So what would they do?
They would start evacuating the whole world,” Bennett adds.
“What would the world do if the United states got attacked?” “
Bennett asks. “
What would the world do if the United states got attacked?”
Bennett asks.
“That would be a disaster.
The world would be completely wiped out.”
“If we got attacked, what are the implications for the world as a whole?”
Bennett continues.
“It would be catastrophic.
The people of the United U.N. would go crazy. And the U
