Why China is putting a ‘great deal of emphasis’ on domestic hospitality in the world’s largest economy
Chinese leaders are putting a great deal of focus on domestic tourism and domestic hospitality and saying they need to keep pace with the world.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said China was committed to the “development of domestic hospitality, and to promoting international cooperation”.
She said China had welcomed foreign tourism and hospitality investments.
China hosts more than 400 million people, or about one in four people on earth.

In 2016, China’s total number of foreign tourists was more than 7.5 million.
